Help Protect Critical Seafloor Habitat
The seafloor along America’s West Coast is home to thousands of animals living among sponges and deep-sea corals in a vibrant marine ecosystem. The Pacific Fishery Management Council, or PFMC, is scheduled to make a critical decision about identifying and protecting this ecologically sensitive area, which is threatened by damaging fishing practices.
Several organizations representing fishing, government, and conservation interests recently submitted eight proposals for updating protection of essential fish habitat along our coast. Please take a moment to sign the petition below encouraging the PFMC to fully analyze these proposals as it moves ahead with a process to identify and protect essential fish habitat.
Like the ancient forests on land, a healthy and intact ocean seafloor is a legacy that we should pass on to future generations.Share this:
